​“Where cows are met” is a debut collection of 24 poems about rural life by Philip Bentall, a novelist, poet and country estate worker. His finely worked, well-crafted poems evoke places, people and rural life with a freshness and immediacy that makes them accessible and enjoyable for town and country dwellers alike. For Philip Bentall is fully qualified to write about the countryside and its traditional pursuits. After studying countryside management, he worked as a gamekeeper in Sussex for several years before moving to London and doing a master's degree in Applied Linguistics at King's College. Writing his thesis on the influence of English on the Japanese language, he went on to teach Academic English to foundation and pre-master’s students. Returning to the countryside, he now works as a country estate worker. His poetry has received various awards and appeared in such publications as The London Library Magazine and Country Life. He is also the author of two novels, Stray Dog and Wild Flower.
