We were delighted to be invited to read on Saturday 15th March at the Poetry Soiree. This event included the launch of "Holocaust", an experimental piece by the New York poet Robert Fitterman. The Soirée was the final event of the New Writers Festival organised by Surrey University at G-Live. It ended a day of seminars and lectures on all aspects of writing and publishing, following the previous day's Secondary Schools Day. This annual event is a great way for the University community to link with Guildford's community. We took the opportunity to publicise our monthly poetry event and were very pleased that several people we met at the festival came to listen and read at our Pop Up Poetry event on the following Tuesday.

We had a wonderful experience in January when we were guests of Poets Corner, a writing group in New Delhi, India, in their four-day Poetry Festival. We were also the grateful guests of Shyam Sharma, who made us very welcome in the midst of his hard work as one of the organisers of the Festival.
We were very honoured to be invited to speak on a panel at the Jawaharlal Nehru University alongside eminent Indian writers and other international guests. There we also ran a workshop with young people and launched Dónall Dempsey's new book, "The Smell of Purple". The event was hosted at the university in collaboration with the Oxford bookshop in New Delhi. Another highlight was the day when we took part in readings on the "Poetry on Wheels" tour bus, reading at historic points in the city. |
